A United Airlines plane from Los Angeles to China had to turn around this weekend after they found that one of the pilots had taken off without the passport, the company told the company to CNN in a statement.
Flight 198 departed from the American city at 2 pm on Saturday (22) with 257 passengers and 13 crew members on board and went to the northwest over the Pacific Ocean, bound for Shanghai.
Two hours later, the plane was turned and went to San Francisco, where he landed around 5 pm, local time, according to Flightware.
“The pilot did not have the passport on board. We provided a new crew to bring our customers to their destination that night. Customers received food valleys and compensation,” United said.
The new crew took off around 9 pm in the local Haráro, and landed in Shanghai about six hours after expected.
