Index that measures the expectation of US families regarding the future of the economy has fallen for the 4th consecutive month
US consumer confidence fell for the 4th consecutive month in March, with the most pessimistic families compared to the future in 12 years, according to one released on Tuesday (25.mar.2025).
The Conference Board said its consumer confidence rate fell 7.2 points to 92.9 this month. Economists consulted by Reuters estimated a drop to 94.0.
The current situation index, based on consumer evaluation on current business and labor market conditions, dropped 3.6 points to 134.5.
The expectation index, based on the short -term outlooks of consumers in relation to income, business and labor market conditions, has dropped from 9.6 points to 65.2 – the lowest level in 12 years and well below the 80 limit that usually indicates a forward recession.
