The acting mayor of Belo Horizonte, Álvaro Damião (Union), lamented the death of Fuad Noman (PSD) on Wednesday (26).

“Our relationship was professional, in the face of our public responsibilities. But it was human, fraternal and affectionate in everyday deal. Fuad treated me as a son, always guiding me, advising and pulling my ear when there was need,” he said in a statement published on the social network.

He was already acting interim, as Fuad had been hospitalized since January 3, dealing with a pneumonia.

“May we follow your teachings and be able to fulfill your commitments, to make our city an increasingly better place to live. It won’t be easy. But honoring Fuad’s name is an ideal that I will never give up,” he wrote.

Now Damião will assume the position of mayor of the capital permanently.

. He leaves two children and four grandchildren. According to a medical report released by the hospital where he was hospitalized, the cause of death was “as a result of the complications of a non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.”
