Air France flight had taken off from the French capital to Guadelupe, in the Caribbean

A flight that went to Guadalupe, in the Caribbean, returned to Paris (France) after more than an hour of travel. The reason was the disappearance of a cell phone.

Flight AF750, operated by a Boeing 777-300er (F-GSQX registration), took off from Paris-Orly airport on Friday (21.mar.2025), at 11:51 am (local time). According to Air Live, aviation news site, the aircraft carried 375 passengers, including 6 children, and 12 crew.

After more than an hour of flight, the disappearance of a cell phone was reported. Despite extensive crew searches, it was decided to return to Paris as “preventive measure”The aircraft landed at Orly Airport at 3:25 pm, completing a 2 -hour and 16 -minute route.

Although Air France did not report why the loss of cell phone caused the return to Paris, it is assumed that the measure was taken because of the potential fire risks caused by lithium-ion batteries in confined spaces.

Such batteries, commonly found in smartphones and power bankscan become dangerous when damaged or overheated.

For this reason, battery chargers cannot be dispatched and should be taken in hand luggage for safety reasons.

Maintenance teams were quickly mobilized to locate the device. After 20 minutes, the aircraft resumed the trip to Guadalupe.

The incident occurs in a moment of growing global attention to the safety of electronic flights on flights. South Korea recently implemented more rigid lithium batteries transport rules.
