Russia has launched a night attack with drones in the Ukrainian region of Mykolaiv, and also hit Kryvyi Rih in what Ukrainian authorities said on Wednesday (26) being the largest drone attack on the city.

The United States reached separate agreements on Tuesday (25) with Ukraine and Russia to interrupt the attacks on the Black Sea and against each other’s energy targets, but it was unclear when and how the agreements would come into force.

The mayor of Mykolaiv stated that there were emergency energy falls on Wednesday morning in the city, after a report by the governor of the region that seven drones were destroyed at night.

It was not immediately clear whether the power cuts were cautious or out of the night attack on Mykolaiv.

Moscow also attacked the Ukrainian Central City of Kryvyi Rih, causing fires and damaging buildings, but causing no deaths, reported the head of the city’s military administration.

The Ukrainian army stated that its air defense units slaughtered 56 of the 117 drones launched by Russia in the night attack. He pointed out that 48 drones were lost, referring to the redirection of the devices.

“Apparently, this is how occupants want peace,” wrote Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Military Administration, in the Telegram Message Application, describing him as the largest drone attack on the city. “Most importantly, there were no deaths or injured.”

Reuters could not independently verify the reports of Mykolaiv and Kryvyi Rih. The size of the attack on Kryvyi Rih and what was shot there were not immediately clear.

Vilkul reported at least 15 explosions in Kryvyi Rih, hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky and a frequent target of Russian attacks.

There were no immediate comments from Russia, but the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that air defense units destroyed nine Ukrainian drones at night, including two on the water of the Black Sea.
