Jessica Santos, a digital influencer of Fortaleza (CE), found an irreverent way to charge the father of his youngest son: during the boy’s 3rd anniversary party, João Ravy, pulled a choir among the guests with the phrase: “Pay the boy’s pension!”. The moment was recorded on video and quickly went viral on social networks.

The reaction was intense. While many mothers identified with the situation and demonstrated support, Jessica also received a flood of criticism, especially men. “Most of the negative messages I get are from men accusing me of wanting to live in pension, but those who understand reality know that this charge goes beyond money,” he said in an interview.
The mother explains that her relationship with the boy’s father was brief and that, although he lives just 15 minutes away, he never showed interest in exercising paternity. According to Jessica, the main request is not financial but emotional. “I just wanted him to play the role of father, who was present, to play with his son. Money is not the question, but the affective absence,” he says.
Jessica has two other children, the result of a previous relationship that lasted seven years, and reports that the former partner fulfills his paternal responsibilities. However, with João Ravy, the situation is different. “He always promises he will change, but he came to see him a few times and never built a bond,” he says.
In addition to his own experience, Jessica sees her attitude as a way of giving voice to other mothers who face the same problem. “I see many children growing up without the presence of their father and it worries me. I missed my childhood myself and I don’t want my son to go through it,” he concludes.
