Update
Most of the Judges of the Federal Supreme Court of Brazil decided on Wednesday to bring to trial former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven other civil and military allies accused of attempted coup.
Jair Bolsonaro and seven other defendants go to trial for attempted coup d’état in Brazil.
The rapporteur, Alexandre de Morais, voted for full acceptance of the prosecution formulated by the Attorney General’s Office against Bolsonaro and seven other defendants, in a decision accompanied by judges Flávio Dino and Luiz Fux, of the First Class of the STF, made up of five magistrates.
The votes of judges Carmen Lúcia and Cristiano Zanin are still missing, but, as the collective that judges the case is formed by five magistrates, the three votes already expressed majority, so Bolsonaro and the other defendants will be tried for attempted violent abolition of the democratic rule of law, attempted coup d’état, involvement in armed criminal organization, qualified damage and deterioration of heritage.
