The European Commission has made the abolition of sanctions with full withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine, while Russia is asking for alleviation of restrictions on grocery trade.
On Wednesday, the European Commission (EC) re -declared that the condition for abolishing anti -Russian sanctions is a complete and unconditional withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukrainian territory. The EC announced this the day after the publication of the non -compliance agreement in the Black Sea, in which the US committed itself to alleviate some sanctions. TASR reports this based on Reuters report.
“The termination of unprocessed and unauthorized Russian aggression in Ukraine and the unconditional withdrawal of all Russian military forces from all over Ukraine would be one of the main prerequisites for a change or abolition of sanctions,” said EU spokeswoman for foreign affairs and security policy Anitta Hipper.
Russia conditions
Russia said on Tuesday that the United States agreed to help it to abolish Western sanctions on Russian food and shipping companies and fertilizers manufacturers. According to Moscow, the abolition of these sanctions is one of the conditions of the non -compliance agreement in the Black Sea.
Russia specifically wants the West to abolish the sanctions against Rosslachozbank and also requires the abolition of restrictions on the service of sailing boats under the Russian flag involved in the food and fertilizer trade in ports and the abolition of restrictions on the supply of agricultural machines and food production and fertilizers to Russia.
Diplomats told Reuters that most of the restrictions on the Kremlin concerns sanctions and restrictions imposed by the EU.
The West did not conducted sanctions directly on Russian agriculture, but Moscow has long complained that sanctions have limited its access to transport insurance and complicate the provision of lending to farmers, making Russia impossible to export. The EC recalled that the EU does not apply sanctions on Russian agricultural products. However, there are prohibititive duties that practically prevent their imports.
“Russia now has to prove the true political will to end its illegal and unprovoked aggressive war,” Hipper said. “Experience has shown that Russia must be judged by his actions, not according to the words,” she added.
