The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, described as “correct steps” the agreements reached in Saudi Arabia by representatives of Ukraine and Russia with US emissaries to guarantee a “safe navigation” in the Black Sea and end the attacks against energy infrastructure. “It is too early to know if it will work, but it has been the right meetings, the right decisions, the right steps. No one after this can accuse Ukraine of not moving towards sustainable peace,” Zelenski said at a press conference in kyiv. Asked about the moment when the truces contemplated in the agreements must enter into force, Zelenski said that the Ukrainian part considers that they should have been effective as soon as the commitments achieved in Riyades have been published by the US. The Ukrainian president also said that the parties involved will organize new meetings as soon as possible to establish the technical details on the execution of the agreements and the monitoring and control of their compliance. Zelenski raised the possibility that European and Türkiye countries are involved in verification efforts together with the US, and said that the Ukrainian part will immediately inform Washington of any violation by Russia. The Ukrainian president also denied that the Ukrainian delegation, headed by the Minister of Defense, Rustem Umérov, would have approached an eventual distribution of illegally annexed Ukrainated territories by Russia, although he said that it probably has done it with the Kremlin negotiators.
