During the talks, the US “reiterated that President Donald Trump wanted to end the killings on both sides.”
Washington “will continue to organize negotiations between the two sides in order to achieve a peaceful solution,” according to a single paragraph in the two announcements.
The US administration expresses its “gratitude” to the Prince’s successor to Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman.
The terms of Moscow
Moscow is open to a new agreement on shipping in the Black Sea, just before the White House announcements were said by Sergei Lavrov.
Any new agreement, however, should be accompanied by strict conditions, but the Russian Foreign Minister added. This includes Russia’s right to inspect ships and ensure that any empty ships are not used for weapons deliveries.
Confirms Kiev – retains the right to self -defense
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has confirmed the White House agreement, however, stressing that “the movement of Russian warships outside the eastern part of the Black Sea will be treated as a violation of the agreement and a threat to Ukraine’s national security”.
“In this case, Ukraine will reserve the right to self -defense,” the Ministry of Defense’s announcement on X said, adding that “additional technical consultations” will be needed to “effectively implement” the agreed.
Ukraine and the United States held bilateral technical consultations in Riyadh focused on the security of energy and critical infrastructure, safe navigation in the Black Sea, and the release and return of our prisoners and children.
