The Óbidos International Chocolate Festival will surprise visitors with a giant tablet of Dubai’s famous chocolate next Saturday, March 29. Pastel chef Francisco Siopa, curator of the event, will lead a team of 10 chocolate masters to create this XXXL version, which will then be distributed for free to visitors.
The tablet will have about 50 pounds of chocolate stuffed with the creamy pisthery mixture and Gaddaif pasta, a candy that has gained fame thanks to the company Fix, from the United Arab Emirates. Currently, the original version can only be purchased directly from Dubai, but there are already variations available in Portugal.
The event, which runs until April 6, will feature showcookings, contests and gastronomic demonstrations, exploring the versatility of chocolate, from traditional confectionery to cocktails and harmonizations with wine. Óbidos promises to become a true “flavors laboratory”, where tradition meets innovation.
