Algarve launches 2025 edition of the Young Volunteer Program for Nature

The Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ) presented in the Algarve the program “Youth Volunteering for Nature and Forests 2025”, on March 21, marking World Tree Day. The session was attended by dozens of young people from Basic, Secondary and Professional Faro.

In partnership with the Portuguese Environment/Administration Association of the Algarve Hydrographic Region (APA/ARH), two environmental workshops that actively involved young participants were taking place. The first, entitled “The Forest is ours”, took place at the IPDJ facilities and aimed to sensitize for the preservation of nature and the risks associated with human action. The activity included the visualization of thematic films and the planting of various plant species.

The second workshop, “Water is ours”, took place in the laboratories of APA/ARH do Algarve and aimed to rather raise young people about water scarcity and the importance of their responsible use. Related issues related to recycling and the environmental impact of human activity were also addressed.

At the end of the workshops, young people had the opportunity to share experiences, know projects developed under the VJNF program in 2024 and watch the presentation of the new version of the program for 2025.
