Americanas, which is undergoing judicial recovery, said on Wednesday (26) that it registered net loss of $ 586 million in the fourth quarter, reversing profit of $ 2.56 billion calculated in the same period of 2023, according to the company’s financial balance.
The profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) adjusted from the Americanas added R $ 180 million from October to December last year, against negative EBITDA of R $ 1.18 billion calculated in the same stage by 2023.
Retailer’s net revenues fell 4.5% in the annual period, to R $ 4.3 billion.
The company ended 2024 with gross indebtedness of R $ 1.8 billion, being R $ 1.7 billion in public debentures and R $ 66 million in short and long -term loan and financing of non -recovering companies belonging to the American group.
Considering remaining liabilities of the retailer’s judicial recovery plan, Americans said it closed last year with a net cash balance of about $ 450 million.
On the operational side, Gross Goods Volume (GMV) was R $ 6.5 billion in the fourth quarter of 2024, a 2.3% reduction compared to the same period of the previous year, with a 47% drop in the digital segment GMV.
Sales in the same stores concept, an important retail indicator, grew 15% in the last three months of the year, supported in the promotional period of Black Friday and Christmas.
Americanas said that over 2024 it ended the operations of 92 units that did not meet their “feasibility criteria”, reaching 1,587 stores in total, and added that in parallel, it started the search for new points with “greater potential”.
“As part of this strategic movement, we inaugurated a new unit in the city of Eusébio, in the metropolitan region of Fortaleza,” said the company, which has aimed at opening stores mainly in the northeast region of the country.
