Bananas with white spots
Just to warn, this situation is very unlikely and the risk of finding yourself in this situation is really almost non -existent. But a few people have already happened. This is a story from the UK. One woman brought a bunch of bananas she bought in a supermarket. But when she came home, she noticed something slightly special. There was a white spot on one banana. The woman first considered her a harmless mold. But when she wanted to scrape it, there was a emergency in the whole house.
In fact, it was not a mold at all, as the woman thought, but a cocoon with the spider’s eggs. And not so much. It was an egg of the Brazilian wandering spider whose poison is extremely dangerous and strong. As soon as the cocoon was opened, the chicks of the poisonous spider spilled. The whole family had to immediately out of the house and teams were called to kill pests. Fortunately, no one was bitten and the house was thoroughly cleaned to make it safe again. It is not necessary to add that no one in the family has bought a long time, and probably never buying again. And unfortunately it is not a unique case.
What about bananas in the Czech Republic?
Even in the Czech Republic there were a few cases where spiders arrived at us on bananas. Whether they are fatally poisonous or not, it is really important to be careful about what you are buying. It is better to be overly careful than then regret it. Even if the spiders were not poisonous, no one wanted no one to see the uninvited colony of spiders. So check the fruit you buy carefully. When you come across a suspicious white stain on a banana in a supermarket, call someone from the employees.
And what to do if you unknowingly bring this “banana with surprise” home? Do not open it at any cost. Can it be a harmless mold, but do you really want to risk it? Place the banana in a sealed container or a plastic bag. Then discard it and check the rest of the fruit to see if it is happened to be something that should not be there. These cases are extremely rare, but you know it. Coincidence is …
