The Algarve region in Portugal was classified as the world’s most economical vacation destination by 2025, according to the annual Holiday Money Report report, published by Post Office Travel Money in the United Kingdom. This is the first time in almost a decade that the Algarve once again leads this ranking of British, elaborated based on the average costs of goods and services commonly acquired by tourists in different parts of the world.

Methodology was based on common vacation expenses
The study did not take into account the costs of accommodation or air transport, focusing exclusively on the average price of eight products considered representative of vacation context: a coffee, a beer, a Coca-Cola, a glass of wine, a bottle of water, sunscreen, insect repellent and a dinner of three dishes for two people.
In the Algarve, the total average cost of these items is 70,14 euros.
The classification reflects the prices practiced in local establishments and considers values reported by tourist entities and operators in the analyzed countries.
After the Algarve, the second most affordable destination is Cape Town (South Africa), with an average cost of 71.20 euros. Tokyo (Japan), Kuta (Indonesia) and Déli (India) are followed, all below 100 euros in the sum of the same items.

Nice, New York and Hawaii among the most expensive destinations
In the opposite direction, the report highlights Nice (France) as one of the most expensive destinations, with a combined average cost of 182,07 euros for the same products.
At the top of the table of less affordable destinations are New York (199.71 euros) e The Hawaii (185.37 euros).
