During February, 31 motorcyclists died in traffic in the city of São Paulo, according to infosiga data. The state capital therefore recorded more than one death a day.
The number of dead motorcyclists is the highest since 2015, the beginning of the historical series of infosiga. Compared to February 2024, there was an increase of just over 10%.

In all, the city of São Paulo recorded 65 traffic deaths in February 2025, an increase of 10.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Deaths through transport in the capital in February:
- 31 in motorcycles
- 29 pedestrians
- 4 in cars

In January 2025, the State of São Paulo registered 468 transit deaths, an increase of 8.3% over the same period of the previous year.
Of these, 204 deaths were motorcyclists, representing 15.3% of the total traffic deaths in the state.
In addition, January 2025 data reveals other important numbers:
- 90 pedestrian deaths, with an increase of 4.7% over the previous year;
- 32 cyclist deaths, with an increase of 14.3% over the previous year;
- 107 deaths of car occupants, with a 10.8% decrease over the previous year.
What the City Hall says
In a statement, the City of São Paulo said it has adopted measures to increase traffic safety. The municipal administration highlighted the blue band, an initiative designed to reduce the severity of accidents involving motorcyclists.
Currently, says the city, the city has 215.2 kilometers of signposted roads with the track, with 3 kilometers created in 2025.
According to the city, the implementation of the blue range resulted in a 47.2% drop in the number of motorcyclists deaths on the streets and avenues that received the signaling in 2024 compared to 2023.
The municipal administration reported that, in the same sections, 36 deaths were recorded in 2023, while in 2024 the number fell to 19.
