The President of the Republic, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT), said on Thursday (27) that he will work for a free trade agreement between Mercosur and Japan.
“As president of Brazil I will assume the presidency of Mercosur in the second half. And if it depends on me, what happened in the agreement with the European Union will happen. We will work to have Mercosur agreement with Japan. It is good for Mercosur countries and will be good for Japan,” he said at a press conference in the Asian country.
Lula was during the week visiting the country, where he sought. The president evaluated as important the strengthening of the bond between the two nations.
The petista and pondered that the world would suffer from a “new cold war” between China and the United States.
“The world needs to grow trade between continents, and we do not accept the idea of a new cold war between the United States and China. We already have the experience of the Cold War that lasted 50 years. The more freedom, the more trade will be the better for countries,” he said.
Lula to raise commercial barriers to his partners. The petista’s assessment is that the tariffs will terminate to be harmful to the US economy.
