SEOUL (Reuters)-North Korean leader Kim Jong Un supervised suicide drones test with artificial intelligence technology (IA) and said unmanned control and AI capacity should be the main priorities in modern weapons development, state media said on Thursday.
Kim also inspected the new updated recognition drones, capable of detecting tactical targets and enemy activities on land and sea, said the state news agency KCNA.
“Kim Jong Un said unmanned equipment and artificial intelligence technology should be the main priorities in weapons modernization,” KCNA said.
He emphasized the importance of promoting a long -term coordinated national program to be at the forefront of unmanned air vehicle competition (UAVs) for military use, the agency said.
North Korea has made a great effort to develop drones, including Kamikaze ammunition.
The project is suspected to be part of the growing military cooperation with Russia in the last year.

North Korean troops are believed to be sent to the Russian war against Ukraine to be involved in the drone war, gaining a valuable experience on the battlefield.
