Governor of Minas Gerais claims to expect the former president to “recover political rights” and that the court is done

The governor of Minas Gerais, (new), said on Thursday (27.mar.2025) that the former president (PL) is the “Greater Opposition Leader” to the president’s government (PT) and said he hoped that “Justice is done”.

The statement of the Minas Gerais Governor was 1 of the Supreme Court (STF) and 7 other allies defendants for attempted coup d’état in 2022.

Bolsonaro Defendant

The 1st class of the STF accepted on Wednesday (26.mar) the complaint of the PGR (Attorney General’s Office) to make Bolsonaro and 7 others defendants for attempted coup in 2022.

Those involved were part of the central core of the criminal organization, of which, according to investigations, the main decisions and social impact actions came.

  • Jair Bolsonaro (PL), former President of the Republic;
  • (PL-RJ), former director general of ABIN (Brazilian Intelligence Agency) and federal deputy;
  • Almir Garnier, former Navy Commander;
  • Anderson Torres, former Minister of Justice;
  • Augusto Heleno, former minister of GSI (Institutional Security Office); Mauro Cid, former Bolsonaro orders of orders;
  • Paulo Sérgio Nogueira, former Minister of Defense; and
  • former minister of the Civil House and candidate for vice president in 2022

Installing the criminal action, the Supreme will now hear the witnesses indicated by the defenses of all defendants and lead their own investigation. The parties may request the production of new evidence before the trial of the crimes.

After the steps, the Court opens overlooking the final allegations, when it should ask the PGR to comment on the acquittal or conviction of the accused.
