Club communicates that the new corporation of football will assume the assets of the Portuguese Sports Association
The (Brazilian Football Confederation) announced the transformation of the Portuguese Sports Association into SAF (Anonymous Society of Football) on Wednesday (25.mar.2025). The event was held in São Paulo.
The Portuguese SAF assumes all the assets linked to football of the traditional club from São Paulo. This includes registration with the Paulista Football Federation and CBF, as well as the economic and federative rights of players.
The change happens after a period marked by intense discussions about the management and future of the club. In November 2024, the Portuguese counselors approved the transformation into SAF. They also approved the assignment of 80% of the participation for Tauá Partners.
However, the process faced challenges. The COF (Fiscal Guidance Council) of the Portuguese, under the leadership of José Gonçalves Ribeiro, pointed out differences in the contract with the investors. This required adjustments for SAF approval.
Legal obstacles caused complications, including the non -recognition of the Portuguese administration as SAF by the Paulista Football Federation. This prevented the registration of players and receiving quotas of participation in competitions. The situation worsened with investors threatening to remove support for the project.
After negotiations, the Portuguese members gathered on March 18, 2025. They approved the new terms of the partnership with Tauá Partners. With 113 votes in favor of the 116 members present, Lusa’s SAF was registered in a notary’s office. This allowed the club to operate according to FPF and CBF standards.
“It’s a milestone for us. This approval translates the will of our fans, who support us since the beginning of the project. We have legal certainty to continue working on the reconstruction of the Portuguese,” Alex Bourgeois, partner-in-cooking and president of SAF, said.
