Annts play a very important role in the ecosystem – they loosen the soil and also carry seeds. In Poland, some species of ants are covered by partial protection. There is also a ban on destroying forest anthills. When ants appear in may be a problem
Ants in the garden can be pests because:
- They destroy the roots of plants: by copying tunnels underground, they can damage the root system of plants, weakening them and hindering them the intake of water and nutrients.
- They support aphids: ants feed on a sweet slice produced by aphids and in exchange protect them from predators, contributing to their spread, and aphids weaken the plants.
- We spread weed seeds: while carrying weed seeds to various places in the garden, they help them spread and compete with crops.
- They build anthills in undesirable places: anthills can destroy lawns, paths and other elements of the garden.
I scattered around the anthill and I have peace of mind for a long time
Annts avoid certain smells. They especially don’t like a sharp aroma. It is enough that around the anthill and other places where the ants feed the chili spice. A strong smell has a deterrent effect and will make ants change their lives in a few days. Chili also irritating with ants. Cinnamon has a similar effect. Annts also do not like this smell and avoid places where cinnamon is scattered. For an even better effect, you can mix chili with cinnamon and scatter in the garden in places where ants appear. Garlic is also a great way to get rid of ants from the garden. And add 2 cups of hot water. Mix the whole thoroughly and pour into the anthill.
Spread around the anthill, and in a few days it will remove all ants. This method works when others fail
If all the ways to get rid of ants fail, you can reach for the more radical ones. Among them, the most effective is corn flour, baking powder or baking soda. Just scatter it around the anthill, as well as on the paths of ants moving. Insects will eat flour or baking soda, which will swell and kill ants. Dry rice can work in a similar basis. Annts will transport him with anthills, there rice will moldy and poison the entire population. In the case of a serious invasion of ants, it is worth considering specialist help. In garden stores you can also buy special anti -ants. In this case, however, check whether they are harmful to other animals.
Natural and preventive methods:
- Maintain order: remove food remains, fallen fruit and other sources of food for ants.
- Block access: seal gaps and cracks in buildings to prevent ants from entering the ants.
- Use natural barriers: sprinkle the paths of ants with substances that they do not like, e.g. cinnamon, coffee, mint, vinegar, baking powder, borax (cautiously, toxic for plants and pets).
- Water with soap: Spray ants with a soap and soap solution (e.g. potassium soap). He kills them, but you have to do it regularly.
- Feeling herbs: plant near plants exposed to attacks of ants, such as mint, lavender, marjoram, tansy.
- Apply diatomaceous soil: Sprinkle the paths of ants with diatomaceous soil (diatomite). It is a natural remedy that damages insect armor. Use dry diatomaceous soil because wet loses its properties.
