It is facing an alarming increase in dengue cases, with the south of the city being the most affected. The data on Thursday (27) of the State Department of Health reveal that, in 2025, São Paulo already accounts for 18,000 confirmed cases of dengue, as well as 20,000 probable cases. The city also records a confirmed death and is investigating 62 suspicious deaths related to the disease. The increase in the number of cases is significant, with a 26% growth in the week ended March 15, compared to the previous week. Between March 2 and 8, about 11,000 cases were confirmed, a number that jumped to 14,000 the following week.
The situation requires attention from both the authorities and the population, as the continuous increase in dengue cases represents a challenge for public health. Transmitting mosquito prevention and control measures are essential to contain the dissemination of the disease. The Health Department is reinforcing the importance of eliminating breeding grounds in the Aedes aegypti mosquito, responsible for the transmission of dengue.
