As part of the restructuring, 28 HHS units will be consolidated in 15 new divisions, including a new “administration for a healthy America”, or aha
The US Department of Human Health and Human Services (HHS) reported on Thursday that it will cut about 10,000 full-time jobs and close half of its regional offices in a large reformulation of the department under the command of health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The latest staff cuts and the approximately 10,000 recent volunteer departures will reduce the number of full -time employees from the department from 82,000 to 62,000, HHS said.
“We are not just reducing bureaucratic dispersion. We are realizing the organization with its main mission and our new priorities to reverse the epidemic of chronic diseases,” said Kennedy Jr.
United States President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk, who supervises the department of government efficiency, have been eliminating agencies as part of an effort to reduce federal bureaucracy.
As part of the restructuring, 28 HHS units will be consolidated in 15 new divisions, including a new “administration for a healthy America” or aha.
AHA will bring together HHS offices dealing with dependence, toxic substances and occupational safety, among others, in a central office, the agency said.
