Journalist Willamis França spoke on Wednesday (26) on social networks, after being released upon decision of the 2nd Court of Toxic Crimes of Porto Velho. He was arrested last Tuesday night in Rio Branco, trying to register a police report against his former partner and find that there was an arrest warrant issued against him for an alleged drug trafficking crime in 2001.
In a video published on his social networks, Willamis classified the situation as absurd. “Since 2001, I have never been summoned, quoted or not even informed of the existence of this process. I have never been sought by the authorities, I have never faced any impediment to traveling through Brazil or performing my activities,” he said.

He said he never knew about the existence of the process and believes that his documents may have been used by someone else.
Willamis also pointed out that there are inconsistencies in the process and said it is taking all the necessary legal measures to clarify the facts. “The process has serious errors: they used a nickname I never had, they attributed a profession I never exercised, my signature does not check, and even my name is written wrong,” he explained.
Willamis stated that he is already taking all the necessary legal measures and declared confidence in the court. “I trust in justice and in truth. Thanks to everyone who is with me!” He concluded.
The defense of the journalist had also spoken out, reinforcing that he was never sought by the authorities and that there is evidence that his identity may have been used by third parties.
