Débora Rodrigues dos Santoswho peppered with lipstick the statue of justice in front of the Supreme Federal Court (STF)sent an apology letter to the minister Alexandre de Moraes in October last year.
The secrecy of the letter was removed on Wednesday (26) by the minister.
In the letter, Debora says she bitterly regret the act, that the cause “shame” and “irreparable consequences.” The hairdresser also states that she never compact with violent or illicit attitudes.
“I went to Brasilia because I believed that there would be a peaceful manifestation and without inconvenience, but gradually, I realized that the movement was heated,” he continued.
Deborah also says that when she was close to the statue, a man started writing the sentence and asked her to continue. According to the letter, she did not know the symbolic value of that statue and what she represented.
“Honestly, I was very upset about the breaking break in institutions. I repudiate vandalism, however, I was there because I wanted to be heard, I wanted more explanations about the result of the disturbed elections of 2022,” he explained.
Supreme Court Judgment
Moraes’s decision was days after the trial was started against the hairdresser in the court’s virtual plenary.
Moraes, who is a rapporteur, voted to condemn Deborah to 14 years in prison, as well as requesting a fine of approximately $ 50,000 and compensation of $ 30 million for collective moral damages (in conjunction with the others convicted by the case).
The trial was paralyzed by request for a view – more time to analyze the case – of Minister Luiz Fux. This morning, the minister commented on his position on the case, saying that he would like to review the penalty.
I confess that on certain occasions I come across an exacerbated piece and so I ordered views. I want to analyze the context in which this lady was, ”he said.
