The Ukrainian President, considered Wednesday that the envoy sent American presidential for the Middle East, frequently accepts the Kremlin narrative.
“I find that Witkoff accepts too much the Kremlin narrative,” said Zelenski, who is in Paris, in an interview with the public channel, in which he considered that “that will weaken the pressure on Russia.”
The interview, with journalists from several European countries, both in the study and at a distance, took place after the Zelenski meeting with the French president, Emmanuel Macron, and, the EU and the NATO, to continue support for Ukraine, even within a hypothetical peace agreement. “We want peace, we hope that tomorrow’s meeting can advance it,” said the Ukrainian leader.
Zelenski acknowledged that the situation on the field “is very complex”, since Russia continues its attacks on civil objectives while still without accepting the joint proposals of kyiv and Washington for a high fire of 30 days, from which to begin negotiating peace.
On this point, he pointed out that it will be “very important” to know who will monitor compliance with a peace agreement, and gave as an example the control that Russia does not shoot cruise missiles on Ukrainian civil objectives.
“We expect a decision from the United States” at this point, said the Ukrainian President.
Zelenski also denounced that “Russia opposes its veto to all the decisions of Europe in terms of security.” In addition, he reiterated his support for the idea of using frozen Russian assets in the European Union (more than 200,000 million euros) to produce weapons, in Ukraine and in Europe, which helps defend his country of Russian invasion.
Consolidate support for long -term Ukraine
Leaders from 31 countries meet, indeed, this Thursday in Paris to discuss how to continue helping Ukraine in the war but also to support the country in the long term, including in a hypothetical peace agreement.
Convened by the French president, Macron, in Elíseo, leaders from 27 European countries participate, including the heads of government of Germany, the United Kingdom and Spain, the top people responsible for NATO and the EU, as well as the vice president of Turkey and representatives of Canada and Australia.
The so -called “Meeting on Peace and Security for Ukraine” begins at 10:00 local time (same in Madrid) and is planned to extend for just over four hours, at the end of which Macron will offer a press conference to explain the results of the appointment.
The appointment has four fundamental objectives, as Macron advanced last night, in some appearance together with the Ukrainian President, who will also participate and with which he prepared the meeting.
At a time when Russia disrupted for now the proposals of the US and Ukraine for a, the first objective is to continue immediate military aid to Ukraine so that this country can continue to defend itself.
At this point, Macron announced a new French military aid package to Ukraine worth 2,000 million euros.
In addition, the meeting will deal with how to reach a solid and durable fire, and how to continue helping Ukraine in the long term for its army to be “capable of deterring a new aggression and resisting a new Russian attack,” Macron said.
The fourth point of discussion will be the sending of an international military force, a Francobritic idea on which Macron stressed that it would not be placed “in the front line”, but in a second escaped to “deter” to Russia.
“The objective is to allow Ukraine to maintain the situation on the ground and resist Russian aggression, but also build the credible elements for peace we want, whatever the result of discussions,” Macron summarized.
The French president stressed that “a decisive phase has been entered to put an end to war” and urged Russia to accept “without previous conditions” the high 30 -day fire proposed by the US and Ukraine.
Both Macron and Zelenski also considered that “it is too early” to begin back in international economic sanctions to Russia, since it is first necessary to reach a peace agreement.
Paris’s appointment comes after between European countries and other Western nations have considered that they have to step forward in the face of the perception of the disconnection of the Trump administration regarding Washington’s traditional support to Ukraine.
