Player was part of the historic alviverde team known gym; Wake takes place this Saturday (29), between 11h and 15h, at Vila Alpina Crematory
This Friday (28), Alfredo Showed, legendary defender of and Luís Pereira’s partner in the club’s second academy, died at age 78 after facing serious health problems. The information was released by Alviverde on their social networks.
“The Palmeiras Sports Society regrets, with immense sadness, the death of Alfredo Mostarda, one of the greatest defenders in the club’s history, at age 78. Formed at the Palestrine base and one of the second academy’s exponents, Alfredo wore the alviverde shirt for nine seasons and won, among other trophies, two Brazilians (1972 and 1973) and two Paulistas (1972 and 1974). Palmeirense that more games took the first defeat, adding 43 matches of unbeaten record since the debut for Verdon, ”paid tribute to Palmeiras.
“Serious and efficient, he played 312 clashes for Alviverde (173 wins, 101 draws and 38 losses) and defended the Brazilian team at the 1974 World Cup. To family and friends of the eternal idol of Brazil’s greatest champion, our most sincere feelings.”

Alfredo Mostarda was hired by Mario Travaglini to the base and became one of the biggest advocates in the club’s history, where he stayed for 13 years and won two Brazilian titles and two Paulistas. He also went through Cruzeiro, Santos, Coritiba, Nacional-AM, Taubaté and Bolivian Jorge Wilstermann.
The iconic player left Palmeiras, already in his second spell, in February 1979. Five years later, in, 1984, he retired at Jorge Wilstermann. He also defended the Brazilian senior team.
The funeral is scheduled for this Saturday (29), between 11h and 15h in the Crematory of Vila Alpina.
