Brazil creates 432 thousand formal jobs in February and breaks record

Result came well above expected by financial agents; BC showed concern about the impact of the labor force on inflation

Brazil created 432.0 thousand jobs with a portfolio signed in February 2025. This is the largest monthly balance registered in the new historical series of CAGED (General Register of Employees and Unemployed), which began in 2020.

The result represents a 40.5% variation compared to the same month of 2024, when 307,500 posts were registered.

The figures were released on Friday (28.mar.2025) by . The new series began in 2020.

The result came far above the expectations of the financial market. Agents consulted by Poder360 estimated the creation of approximately 215,300 jobs in the month.

The balance for February was composed of:

  • 2.579 million admissions;
  • 2.147 million shutdown.

The data is calculated by the difference between the 2 values. That is, the country had more admissions than layoffs in the period.
