The prosecutor’s office made the decision to end the investigation into the possible participation of Benjamin Cordeiro Herdy in the crime that shocked the country. Benjamin, the lawyer’s widower, was suspected of involvement in the kidnapping and murder of his wife, which took place in February last year in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro. The case gained national repercussion when Anic left home to go to a shopping mall and did not return, generating great public commotion.

The investigations revealed that Anic was taken by Lourival Fadiga, a family friend, to a motel, where he was brutally executed. The lawyer’s body was completed and hidden at Fadiga’s house. Lourival Fadiga, who is in prison and confessed to the crime, claimed in a handwritten letter that he acted under orders from Benjamin Herdy, suggesting that the crime was commissioned by the widower.

However, after a thorough investigation, the prosecutor found no evidence that supported this accusation against Benjamin Herdy, an elderly older. The lack of concrete evidence led the prosecutor to file the investigation into the widower’s alleged participation in the crime.

In addition to Lourival Fadiga, three others were arrested for involvement in the murder of Anic Herdy. Two children of Fadiga and his girlfriend were arrested and will be responsible for kidnapping with rescue and triple -qualified homicide requirement. So far, there is no date set for the judgment of the case in the court of Rio de Janeiro.
