The City of Rio Branco, through the Municipal Health Secretariat (Semsa), carries out this Friday (28) a closing action of the month of prevention of chronic diseases, which takes place in the Revolution Square. The event offers various health promotion and prevention services for the population, aiming to raise awareness and facilitate access to exams and medical guidelines.

During the event, the population will have access to free services such as blood pressure measurement, blood glucose measurement, urea and creatinine exams, nutritional orientation, active search for preventive examinations, vaccination and auriculotherapy.
In his speech, Mayor Tião Bocalom reinforced the need for health prevention, noting that regular examinations can avoid serious complications.

“What we ask is that people are preventing each other. We always need to be aware of preventive examinations, such as the cervical and prostate, which are fundamental. After 40 years, it is essential to do these exams annually, as early detection increases the chances of healing. Vaccines are also indispensable for preventing disease,” said Bocalom.
The municipal secretary of health, Rennan Biths, also stressed the importance of the initiative and stressed that primary care is essential to avoid diseases in the health of the population.
“This event is an important time to offer prevention and guidance services, mainly related to food and overweight control. According to the World Health Organization, about 23% of the population of Rio Branco lives with obesity, a challenge that needs to be faced with education and access to health services,” Biths explained.
