The municipality of will have in its official calendar the day of the fight against Christophobia, celebrated on December 25 of each year. On the afternoon of Thursday (26), councilors voted in favor to overthrow the veto imposed by the then mayor () in 2016.
At the time, the bill filed by Councilman Eduardo Tuma (PSDB), who today is TCM counselor, had been approved by the majority in the house. However, Haddad did not want to sanction him.
With the overthrow of the veto on Wednesday, the bill goes to promulgation – it will not need to be submitted to the sanction or veto of the current mayor ().
Upon vetoing the day of the fight against Christophobia, Haddad classified the proposal as a disservice for peaceful coexistence with democratic plurality.
“The project in question, in fact, encourages the separation between Christian religions and other religions, in addition to the LGBT population,” said the petista in the veto published in the Official Gazette, on July 1, 2016.
