The Government of Acre, through the Department of Roads, Waterway and Airport Infrastructure (Deracre), began on Thursday, 27, the construction of a new access ramp for the ferry that operates in the Juruá River, in the region of Rodrigues Alves. The work aims to resolve the attraction problems caused by the accumulation of sand due to the descent of the beach, which caused the ferry to place about 30 to 40 meters from the margin.
Since yesterday, Deracre teams have been working at the scene. They began to clean the area and are currently removing the accumulated soft material. After this step, a lining with a layer of tabatinga clay will be made, followed by the application of plant material, which will improve traffic conditions, even in rainy periods.
Deracre’s president, Sula Ximenes, detailed the operation: “We are using a excavator, a treadmill, a loader page and four buckets to ensure that the service is completed until tomorrow. There is a large amount of material to be transported, with a displacement of approximately 18 km.”
In addition to the main ramp, Deracre also built a new access to smaller vessels, facilitating the transportation of vehicles and motorcycles. “This alternative was created to meet small ferries, responding to a request from owners and drivers who use these vessels and need a more efficient crossing for small cars,” said Sula Ximenes.
During the work period, the deraci guides drivers to use the AC-407 and AC-405 highways, in the Southern Cruzeiro direction, to avoid inconvenience. The municipality is committed to normalizing the operation of the ferry as soon as possible and thanks the understanding of the population.
