This Friday (28), the government of São Paulo holds an important auction of four lines of (CPTM). This event marks a significant step in the modernization and expansion of the region’s public transport system. The concession agreement, which will last 25 years, provides for investments over R $ 14 billion. The auction will take place at 16h at the headquarters of the São Paulo Stock Exchange, B3, located in the center of São Paulo. The ceremony will be attended by the governor of São Paulo, and the mayor of the capital ,.
Two companies are in the concession dispute: CCR and the behaving. Both presented proposals to manage, maintain and expand CPTM lines, including the construction of future stations. The expectation of the government is that the granting to private initiative generates about 15 thousand jobs, both in the capital and in the metropolitan region, which is covered by CPTM trains. This movement is seen as an opportunity to improve transport infrastructure and offer more efficient service to the population.
The auction occurs in a context of tensions with the workers category, which threatened to strike last Wednesday in protest against the concession. However, the stoppage was suspended after a peace agreement mediated by the Labor Court, valid to this day. During this period, workers opted for alternative forms of protest, such as the use of t -shirts, to express their concerns without interrupting services.
On Wednesday, when the CCR and behaving companies delivered the proposals envelopes in B3, there were demonstrations of the unions in front of the site. Despite the pressures, the state government maintained the decision to make the auction as planned.
