The measure represents a significant advance in promoting respect for religious diversity and building a fairer and more inclusive society.
The new legislation provides for concrete actions, such as educational campaigns, public servants’ training and the creation of accessible channels for reports of religious discrimination. The goal is to ensure that each citizen’s faith is respected and protected, reinforcing the state’s commitment to human rights and democracy.
“This law is a milestone in the defense of religious freedom and respect for diversity. The state has a duty to be an example in promoting peace and combating intolerance,” said Mrs Michelle Melo.
