Put them in the dark and dry
Hold the potatoes away from the sun’s rays. And the lights at all. The light causes greening and supports chlorophyll. Green potatoes are bitter, so they cannot be discussed about their preparation for food, but unfortunately it is also a sign of high brine content, which is a poison. Other problems will be caused by moisture that opens an imaginary gate for rot. For potatoes, a cellar is a suitable place for storage, if it is dry, pantry or simply some remote place in your dwelling.
Store
The breathable container is absolutely excellent for potatoes. For example, my parents, great gardening lovers, store potatoes in plastic boxes that have free intersections all over their perimeter (and bottom). They know that air flow is quite crucial for potatoes to last as long as possible. And true, they can do it all winter until the crop of the first early potatoes.

So let you not even think of airtight containers. Instead, it is good to look for a food bag made of cotton, net bags, wire baskets and in the worst and bag bags. But what is an absolutely excellent choice is a bag, or jute. Jute is a solid, organic material. This is already a big plus. It is made of bast fibers, which are obtained from the stems of the jute. Storage of potatoes in jute bags is very popular in the north in Denmark, but IU has settled. In addition, to get jute bags is not difficult, it is definitely not scarce goods.
Correct temperature
At the right temperature, the potatoes will be successful for months in the pantry. And what is it? It is optimal between 7 – 10 degrees Celsius. At higher temperatures, potatoes are beginning to shrink and germinate.
