The fire that broke out on the roof of the extension of the boarding school Slančíkov in Nitra is already extinguished. As informed the Nitra Self -Governing Region (NSK), which is the founder of the school, the smoking premises are currently ventilated and There are already investigators on the spot.
At the time of the fire, there were 250 pupils in the boarding school, including students from abroad who participated in the international competition Gastrofestival Nitra during the week. “The fire was soon extinguished and all the pupils managed to evacuate the intervening firefighters and the police. Rescuers transported two students to the University Hospital in Nitra. A boy who was inhaled by the fumes, and a girl who injured her leg during evacuation. They were released after treatment. Other pupils who breathe in the fumes were treated by rescuers on the spot, ” stated NSK.
Evacuated pupils were placed in the table tennis gym of the school, where they were provided with a drinking regime. The NSK staff subsequently moved some of them to two high school dormitories in Nitra, and parents came for others. The boarding school remains closed until further notice.
The Department of Education, Youth and Sport of the NSK Office is currently providing replacement accommodation for the next days for pupils to make the event as much as possible to touch the educational process. “At the same time, it will soon start preparing the project documentation so that the boarding school can be repaired,” added NSK.
