The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) manifested in favor of granting house arrest for hairdresser Débora Rodrigues dos Santos, accused of painting the statue of justice with lipstick during the scammer acts of 8 January 2023.
The PGR position was presented after the defendant’s defense requests provisional freedom. However, the final decision will be up to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of cases related to the attempted coup d’état in the Supreme Federal Court (STF).
“The demonstration is due to the rejection of the request for provisional freedom and the replacement of pre -trial detention for house arrest, at least until the conclusion of the trial, with the establishment of precautionary measures,” said the PGR.
The agency evaluated that there was no new fact that it justified the revocation of pre -trial detention, but admitted that replacement for less strict measures could be sufficient until the judgment was completed.
Deborah’s defense argues that she is the mother of children under 12 and that the Federal Police have already completed the investigations, which, according to the lawyers, would justify the adoption of an alternative precautionary measure.

Deborah is already being judged by the Supreme Court. Last week, Minister Alexandre de Moraes voted to convict the hairdresser to 14 years in prison, in addition to a fine of approximately R $ 50,000 and, together with other convicts, the payment of compensation of R $ 30 million for collective moral damages.
Minister Flávio Dino fully followed the vote of Moraes, but the trial was suspended by a request for view of Minister Luiz Fux, who signaled disagreeing with the proposed dosimetry.
During the session where the Supreme Court received the complaint against Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for coup attempt, Fux indicated that he can adopt a milder penalty in the case of the hairdresser, highlighting the need for proportionality before the act performed.
