Club seeks financial balance and sees in the new stadium a viable option for the season

The planning to change the venue of its Serie D games of the Brazilian Championship to the Mayor Gabriel Marques da Silva stadium in Santana de Parnaíba. The information came from Alex Bourgeois, president of the Portuguese SAF (Society of Football) of Portuguese in an interview with journalists on Thursday (27.mar.2025).

The decision, motivated by financial reasons, represents a new stage for the club in search of financial balance and competitiveness. Alex Bourgeois mentioned that despite the hope of staying at Pacaembu, Santana de Parnaíba emerges as a viable option.

“We still have a hope in Pacaembu, but we have Santana very well sent as the new home of Portuguese for the D Series”said Bourgeois. The need for change came after the club registered damage of about $ 180,000 per game during the Paulista Championship. The projection of disputing the D Series in the same place indicated possible losses of up to R $ 2.5 million, an unsustainable value for the management of the club.

“We have to be fair, it makes no sense to play to lose 2 million reais, for something that seems more whim. This is loss, not investment”said Bourgeois. The change generated various reactions among the fans, with some concerned with access to the new stadium, located approximately 40 kilometers from the state capital. The board ensures that the choice was made after a detailed analysis of several options in the metropolitan region of São Paulo and Greater ABC.

The Portuguese debut in Serie D is scheduled for April 12, 2025, against Boavista, in Rio de Janeiro.
