President’s candidate for the command of, former mayor Edinho Silva acknowledged on Friday (28) the severity of the political scenario and the power of mobilization of pockets in Brazil.

In mentioning the act called by (PL) in Copacabana on Sunday (16), Edinho recalled that the movement was treated as a vexation in the face of the initial expectation of participation organizers of 1 million supporters. However, he recognized the former president’s social base.

“We all work that the act of Copacabana, of course they called 1 million, was a shame because they put 18 thousand. We, to put 10,000 people on the streets, often we have their blood,” admitted Edinho. The former mayor amended, “Therefore, we have to recognize that they have a social base, yes.”

Bolsonaro’s act in Rio was estimated in 30,000 people in Datafolha survey. In another survey, the monitor of Cebrap’s political debate and the NGO More in Common estimated that the public of the act was 18,300 people.

Speaking during a PT meeting, Edinho pointed out Lula’s need for reelection and quoted the US. “If we are defeated in 2026, it will be tragic. It will be the advance of fascism,” he said.

Favorite for the presidency of the PT, Edinho also said that the party’s task is to build the Post Lula. “We have to be aware of the importance of President Lula’s reelection, but we also have to be aware that it will be the last election that President Lula will be exposed at the polls of our country.”

Giving Lula himself assessment, Edinho said there was no name for the president’s succession. It will all depend on the strength of the PT.

“Our task as leaders is to build the PT Post Lula PT. I will repeat here a phrase that is from President Lula himself, when he says, ‘My successor will not be a name, my successor will be the Workers’ Party, because if the PT is strong, the name we build,'” Edinho reported.

In a clear message to opponents of his candidacy, Edinho warned that they risk the seriousness of the political moment. “If we do not recognize the severity of the moment we are living, so if we make the diagnosis, we will make mistakes,” he said.

In an outburst, Edinho said he feels offended when they say he will pull the PT to the center. “I would like those who make this accusation look like the government I built as mayor,” he said.

In the speech, Edinho mourned the difficulty of dialogue with application workers. He defended the party’s need for presence in the voter’s routine, using the evangelical churches as an example.

“Pentecostal and non -Pentecostal churches are strong because they have presence in the lives of the people. I am not saying here that a party has to dispute with religion, because religion is moved by faith, is driven by spirituality, is driven by subjectivity,” he said.

Edinho repeated that the need for the party to be present. Designing the growth of evangelical churches in the country, he defended this approach. He said that, surely, from 2030 Brazil will be a country mostly of evangelicals and that it is not possible to continue to feed this antagonism, as much as there are disagreements.

“But no one changes anything outside. If we do not dialogue, if we do not join evangelical leaders, if we do not bring evangelical leaders into the PT, so that we reduce contradictions and antagonistic positions, which are often not so antagonistic, certainly we will not be dialoguing with Brazilian royal society,” he warned.

Occurred at the PT headquarters, the meeting was attended by former minister and minister Anielle Franco, who also spoke. The meeting was also broadcast to militants via online.
