Putin: proposes a transitional government to Ukraine - US reaction

Proposal to take power to the transitional government in order to carry out key agreements to end the war, the Russian president said, according to Russian news agencies on Friday (28/3).

“It could take power a temporary in Ukraine, under its auspices, its countries and partners,” Mr Putin said, speaking to members of the Russian Navy in the port of Murmansk.

It would then be possible to “hold elections and come to power a capable government that would have the confidence of the people” in order to “start talking about a peace agreement,” he added.

USA: Ukraine government is decided by Ukrainians

Reacting to this comment, a spokesman for the US Presidency Council noted that Ukraine’s governance was decided by Ukraine under the country’s constitution.

In his statements, Mr Putin also assured that he believes that his American counterpart, who has already improved bilateral relations, wants to be sincere to end, which lasts more than three years.

At the same time, he assured that the Russian Armed Forces were steadily moving towards achieving the goals of the war, which had baptized a special military operation.

The Russian president’s proposal for the formation of a transitional government apparently refers to the position he has been promoting for a long time, that is, the government of his Ukrainian counterpart, is not legal. Typically, Mr. Zelenski’s term was completed in May 2024.

Putin: Russia in favor of peaceful solutions

“In my opinion, the new US president honestly wants the end of the conflict for many reasons,” Mr Putin said. Russia, he added, is in favor of “peaceful solutions in any conflict, including it, but not at the expense of us.”

“Throughout the contact line, our troops maintain the strategic initiative” of movements, “he said. The Russian Armed Forces, “persistently” and “confidently”, are heading for achieving the goals that had been set, he added.

Collaboration with North Korea for war ending

He also said that he was ready to work with various countries, including, to end the war in Ukraine.

Ukrainian, Western and South Korean sources report that Pyongyang has developed more than 11,000 troops in the Russian Kursk region to strengthen the Russian Armed Forces. Neither Pyongyang nor Moscow have confirmed or denied it.
