Former president he says to “Folha de S. Paulo” that he discussed alternatives after his defeat in the 2022 elections
The former president (PL) stated that any prison would represent the end of his life. “I’m already 70”said in, published this Saturday (29.mar.2025).

Bolsonaro again denying any intention of coup state, but said he discussed alternatives after his defeat in the 2022 elections. According to him, realizing that he could not resort to the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), he sought to understand what measures could be taken within the Constitution. Among the possibilities raised, Bolsonaro mentioned state of siege, state of defense, article 142 and a possible intervention, but said the conversations did not result in any decision.
The former president also said he met twice with military commanders and other people, but minimized the importance of these meetings. “Nothing [foi] Very deeply, because when you lose the election, you get a fish out of water ”these. “If you want to blow, change the defense minister, change the power commander … You do not blow in the light of day.”he added.
He further stated that many ministers of his government were already seeking to resume their lives normally.
When asked why discuss these alternatives with military, Bolsonaro said he had “A lot of confidence” in them. He explained that he initially talked to the then Minister of Defense and, in a second moment, other authorities attended the meetings.
The goal, he said, was to evaluate if there was any concrete foundation to move on with any measure to contest the outcome of the elections. The conclusion was that even if there was a basis, there would be no advance, said the former president.
