The Legal Group Prerogatives defended on Friday (28) the decision of the minister () of the hairdresser Débora Rodrigues dos Santos, who became known as the woman who spotted the statue of justice in the attacks of January 8, 2023.
The group, aligned with the Lula administration, argues that the decision on Deborah is extended to other women who are in closed regime and would also be entitled to house arrest.
“The use of lipstick cannot be a privilege. Thousands of women in the prison system are in the same situation. By consistency, the judiciary should grant the benefit to all who are under the same conditions, with a small child, with good period of penalty,” says group coordinator Marco Aurélio de Carvalho.
“This should be valid for Chica and Francisca. Poor, black, peripheral women do not have the same benefit in the prison system. We have to applaud and we will applaud even more if it is extended to all women,” he added.
According to Carvalho, the right adopted in this case a “guarantee of occasion”, by saying that Deborah was sentenced to 14 years only by graffiti. “She was reported by five crimes. The lipstick issue was one.”
