The Senate should analyze on Tuesday (1st.ab.2025) 2 projects that propose the release of the possession of weapon for self -defense for lawyers.
The PL (bill), is authored by the senator (PL-RJ), President of the Board. The PL, is (Republicans-mg).
The two proposals are similar and will be voted together in the collegiate. But in their reports, they have differences. Here’s below:
- Flávio Project: It requires proof of technical capacity, psychological fitness and absence of criminal records for the size and alters laws of the statutes of law () and disarmament (). Here’s (PDF – 232 kb);
- Cleitinho Project: It only requires proof of exercise of law and amends the Law of the Law Statute. This is the project (PDF – 142 kb).
In justification, the former president’s son (PL) states that “Lawyers are hired by their clients to defend their interests, which often involve delicate and sensitive issues such as freedom, family and heritage.” and that the performance of professionals “It can displease the client or the opposing party, to the point that the professional is threatened or attacked by revenge.”.
“In these situations, the possession of firearms would give the lawyer a chance to defend himself against unfair aggression and try to save his life.”it says.
Already Cleitinho argues that it allows judges and members of the Public Prosecution Service to be entitled to the possession of firearms and that the statute of law says that “There is no hierarchy or subordination between lawyers, magistrates and members of the prosecutor”.
