Donald Trump’s administration plans to close USAID until 2025 and move its competences to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

US President Donald Trump’s administration announced on Friday the US Agency’s Closing Plan for International Development (USAID) and noticed Congress. As part of the reorganization, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should take over most of the competence. This is reported to TASR, according to the AFP report.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Usaid today informed Congress about its intention to carry out a reorganization that would include the transfer of certain USAID competences to the ministry by July 1, 2025,” said Marco Rubio, head of US diplomacy.

In addition, the Ministry plans to end the rest of the USAID programs that are not in accordance with the administration priorities. “Unfortunately, USAID has long deviated from its original mission. As a result, the benefits were too small and the cost of too high,” Rubio added.

The Ministry will disturb jobs

After taking office in January 2025, Trump signed the yield to suspend all humanitarian aid for 90 days. In the coming weeks his administration canceled a number of programs abroad. In the past, the Federal Agency had a budget of $ 43 billion, of which more than 40 percent of the world’s humanitarian aid was funded. Most of the agency employees were sent for an administrative holiday shortly after the arrival of Trump.

According to several American media, USAID employees were informed on Friday to cancel all jobs that are not legally necessary. The director of Jeremy Lewin reportedly stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is planning to cancel most of the USAID operations in the coming months.
