Festivals, concerts, sporting events and historical reconstructions fill the calendar of events to the brim. The 1000th anniversary of the coronation in the Gniezno cathedral of the first two kings of Poland: Bolesław the Brave and Mieszko II Lambert is a great opportunity not only to immerse himself in history, but also to create it.

One of the most spectacular attractions of the cultural program of celebrating the thousandth anniversary of the coronation will be a huge, outdoor historical spectacle. At Saint Wojciech Square, at the foot of the Gniezno cathedral, it will be possible to move in time to the events that contributed to the creation of the Polish state. At least 150 actors will take part in the undertaking. The whole will be complemented by sound and pyrotechnic effects as well as videoomaping at the Gniezno cathedral. The unique outdoor spectacle will be available on the first two weekends of August at St. Wojciech. The Royal Art Festival also promises to be spectacularly. Every weekend from the beginning of June to the end of the summer you can go to historical, cultural and sports events. The “Slavic Culture Festival – Royal Coronation” (one of the best Greater Poland tourist products) also promises to be interesting. On the weekend from July 18 to 20 at the foot of the Gniezno cathedral, a medieval settlement will be created, whose life will be observed by thousands of tourists.
– Royal coronation in Gniezno are historical productions, warlis tournaments, traditional archery tournament, volumes, medieval siege machines, Piast playground, Szeptucha glade, shows of traditional craftsmanship and many other attractions – says President Gniezno, Michał Powałowski.
Those who visit the stomach will also find something for themselves in the program. On the first weekend of June you can go to the “Brave feast”. Piast food will reign in the boilers and tables. The flavors of common products in medieval Poland will be composed in tasty dishes available to all guests. It is also worth mentioning the official events – on April 26, 2025, a joint sitting of the Sejm and Senate will take place, and in the Gniezno cathedral a coronation mass accompanying the indulgence ceremony in honor of Saint Wojciech, and from 11 to 14 September, the XII Gniezno Congress will be made. In addition, throughout the last weekend of April, the city’s name day will last with traditional celebrations on the occasion of the Patron of Poland – Saint. Wojciech.
– This year’s Fair of St. Wojciech will be one of the greatest in history. Over 250 stalls will be set up on many streets of the Old Town closed from car traffic – emphasizes President Gniezno.
Sports enthusiasts will not be bored either. On April 5, the annual European Run will take place – 10 km along Gniezno streets, and on September 21 the oldest half marathon in Poland – Lechitów Run. Fans of “Black Sport” will certainly be delighted with the cast of this year’s International Speedway Tournament with the crown of Bolesław the Brave, which will take place on April 6 and will be a foretaste of the awaited Grand Prix cycle. The days when the coronations of Bolesław the Brave and Mieszko II took place a surprise. Certainly, however, on April 18 and December 25, we should wait for news from Royal Gniezno.
