Demonstration refers to debates on the bill that proposes to amnesty those convicted by January 8
During the debut of Gilberto Gil’s “Time King” tour in Rio de Janeiro, on Saturday night (29.mar.2025), the public sang a choir of “No amnesty!” The screams were before the song “Chalice”, while a video testimonial was shown by Chico Buarque, Gil’s partner in the composition made and censored during the 1964 military regime.

The demonstration refers to recent debates on the PL (Bill), which proposes to amnesty those convicted of extremist acts on January 8, 2023, in addition to the former president (PL), defendant for attempted coup.
Gil’s show was 1 day before the act convened by leftist groups against the approval of the Amnesty Project, scheduled for this Sunday (30.mar). The protest was organized in response to the led by former President Bolsonaro in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, held on March 16.
Gil was Minister of Culture of the Government (PT) from 2003 to 2008.
