The 2025 Brazilian Championship, which starts this weekend, will be able to parade 138 players who have foreign nationality. There are 18 countries represented, not to mention Brazil.
The blog consultation to the cast of the 20 clubs in Serie A was made on the Soccerway website, which lists all athletes belonging to the associations and their respective citizens.
The almost absolute majority of the outsiders are from South Americans: 121. Among the best known are the Uruguayan of Arrascaeta, Flamengo, Paraguayan Gustavo Gómez, from Palmeiras, Argentine Calleri, from São Paulo, and Ecuadorian Enner Valencia, from Internacional.
The Europeans add up to 14 (six Portuguese), and most of them have almost heard, or do you know Vasco’s Swiss Maxime Dominguez and the Portuguese João Silva, from Sport? The most famous are Dutch Memphis Depay, from Corinthians, Danish Braithwaite, from Grêmio, attackers, and Vasco’s French midfielder Payet.
They represent Africa three players, two of them Angolans (defender Bastos, of the current champion, Botafogo, and striker Loide Augusto, from Vasco) and one of the Democratic Republic of Congo (Cruzeiro’s striker Bolasie).
Among those in South America, the predominance, with time off, is from Argentines. There are 46, and only four teams do not have at least one in the cast: Bragantino, Youth, Mirassol and Vitória. Fortaleza bets hard on them: there are seven, besides coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda.
Mirassol, rookie in the elite, not only has no Argentine but there is absolutely no one outside. One hundred percent of your squad is national. And only the team in the interior of São Paulo is like this.
The most gringo participant is Vasco, 12, followed by Corinthians and Grêmio. The Cruz-Maltino team presents, alongside Alvinegro Paulistano, the largest number of nationalities, having players representing eight distinct nations.
Of the 138 outskirts that are included in Serie A clubs, 99% act on the line. There are only two goalkeepers: Uruguayan Rochet, head of the International and the national team, and Argentine Rossi, holder of Flamengo.
Arquirrival do Inter, Grêmio intends to leak Rochet and goalkeepers of the other 18 opponents in the Brazilian with a heavy artillery from outside. Of the seven options that coach Gustavo Quinteros (Bolivian born in Argentina) has for the attack, only one is Brazilian.
