Cutting is among Latin American countries; Argentina and Mexico appear following, respectively
Brazil is the country of Latin America that consumes the most news and information through social networks, with 6.4 billion interactions in this type of content on the platforms in 2024. The data are from a survey of ComScore. This is a (PDF – 4 kb).
Argentina (3.9 billion) and Mexico (2.7 billion) appear following 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Chile (818.2 million), Colombia (582.1 million) and Peru (227 million) complete the ranking.
Tiktok concentrates 75% of the total interactions on the platforms. Instagram appears with 20%. Right behind are Facebook with 3% and X (former Twitter) with 1%.
Outside the platforms, Brazil also leads in number of visitors to news sites, with 123 million hits in December 2024 alone. Here are the other countries:
- Mexico – 59.3 million;
- Argentina – 33.5 million;
- Colombia – 20.5 million;
- Chile – 14.1 million;
- Peru – 12.8 million.
The group Globo It is the most accessed news hub, with 62 million unique visitors in December 2024. UOL (35 million), MSN (33 million) and R7 (33 million) appear in the sequence. The portal Terra Closes the top 5, with 30 million visitors.
Other highlights
Tiktok, in particular, obtained a 73% growth in the number video views by comparing December 2023 with 2024, reaching the mark of 11.1 billion video views.
In the influencers segment there were about 6 billion shares (likes, comments and views) on social networks (Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok, X and Youtube) in 2024. The top 5 with the greatest interactions were:
- Virginia – 815 million;
- Neymar Jr. – 533 million;
- Vinicius Jr. – 290 million;
- VIIHTUBE – 190 million;
- Lucas Rangel – 125 million.
Others who registered growth were Discord (46%) and Reddit (132%).
Entertainment
The time spent by Brazilians on YouTube grew 14% in December 2024 compared to the same period as 2023. Events and broadcasts boosted consumption.
Highlight, once again, for the Cazétvwhich showed a 128% growth in the views on the platform (1.4 billion), with Paulistan games 2024 (January 20 to April 7), and the transmissions of the Paris 2024 Olympics (from July 26 to August 11).
