Brazil will host this year an International Conference on Black Theology, the first time this occurs in two decades.
The UNEGRECER Conference will take place between June 18 and 21, at the Baptist Church of Água Branca, in São Paulo. There will be participation of thinkers, theologians and black leaders from Brazil, the Americas and the African continent.
Registration is open since March 24 through the site;
The event is promoted by the Black Movement of Brazil and will address themes of the anti -racist struggle within the churches, such as the black resistance in the Protestant tradition and the challenges of Christianity in the face of racial inequalities.
Highlights include Bronson Eliott and Tiffany Roberts, from the Ebenezer Baptist Church, René August, South African Reverend of the Anglican Church, which acted alongside Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and Maricel Mena Lopez, AfroColombian and first black woman to obtain the title of PhD in Latin America.
“This meeting is fundamental for the Evangelical Black Community to understand that blackness is also our right. Speaking against racism and defending racial justice must be a radical commitment to the Gospel of Jesus and his church,” says the national coordinator of the evangelical black movement, Jackson Augusto.
