Couple and young in Acre tell what the study journey is like to be pastors: “donation for life”

The evangelical churches have had several symbols and leaders viralizing on the internet with the “child shepherds”, which leads many people to believe that to be, just do, however the way to become a pastor can be a little different from this one.

To better understand how this process works, the Contilnet team talked to three theology students, who attend the Independent Presbyterian Church in the state capital, Rio Branco, and tell a little about how they are the preparation to become shepherds one day.

Jefferson Batista de Souza is one of these students, who alongside his wife, Suzel Bezerra Chaves, study for one day to be able to perform the role together.

“It is not the same way in all churches, but the denomination of which we are part of this is the requirement of study in theology, including the faculty we do (Faculty of Independent Presbyterian Church Theology) is recognized by the MEC, but formal study is only part of the requirement, when it demonstrates the interest of taking the course, goes through a period of observation and after formation to take a kind of interview with a kind of interview with the interview with a kind of interview with an interview with the presbytery to the presbytery to the presbytery to the presbytery to the presbytery to the presbytery to the presbytery to the presbytery to the presbytery to the presbytery to the presbytery to the presbytery to the presbytery to the Know if she is able to assume the function. ”

Suzel Chaves further stresses that, before entering higher education, interested parties go through a period of observation. “In arousing this interest in this ministry, the person is observed for a year or so, then is entering college, and to be able to assume the pasture of some church we go through a kind of sabbath, where we are evaluated if we are able to grazing,” he explains.

Alicia Tais, friend of the couple and who is also part of the same course of theology, explains that although the study is important, in not all the churches it is necessary, and some of them form their new leaders at home.

“It is necessary for the person to take place the 3 years of college of theology, and after that, it still goes through an evaluation process, so that the church receives someone prepared. But there are other denominations in which the bachelor’s degree in theology is not necessary, there is a preparation and choice of the church,” he explained.

The group comments that it all starts with what they call “the call,” which usually happens long before the process to become a pastor itself. “This person already has characteristics that demonstrate ‘grazing’ ability, expressed in care for brothers, teaching, relationship capacity and instruction. Often already serves the community with their gifts and talents, and end up leading the church in some way,” says Alicia Tais.

“This ministry requires a great donation from you for another life, and the feeling of disability always arises, but God has sustained my life and made me understand that it is through my inability that His glory is revealed,” explains Suzel Chaves,

She has the unique opportunity to be able to follow the way inside the church next to her husband, and comments on the opportunity to donate to the church with her life partner.

“To do this with my husband has been very good, besides the support, the studies become more dynamic, we debate, we can see other perspectives together, in general the impact in this process was positive because I know that I have to tell, that I have besides a ministry companion, knowing that this is our life purpose together is special,” he said.

He, on the other hand, says that the female presence is important within the evangelical community and that its view is important for study and evolution. “Some church do not recognize female pasture, unlike ours, and all her experience as a woman brings a vision that I can often not have, and also me when the church we are enriched with this diversity.”

Regarding the possibility of acting together at the head of a church, Jefferson Souza comments that it is a way, as female performance is part of the church they attend. “There is this possibility, including our church was” planted “by a couple of shepherds, so it exists, and it would be great if it was because we can support, to have someone who understands the same difficulties,” he said, reinforcing that he would like to act with his wife.
